BROOKING WINS BC CHAMPIONSHIP, YEE FINISHES SECOND

NANAIMO, British Columbia – Trinity Western's Lisa Brooking (Orillia, Ont.) finished first at the BC cross country championships, while fellow Spartan Regan Yee (South Hazelton, B.C.) was second Saturday at Beban Park.

Brooking topped all comers to earn first place at the provincial championship with a time of 20:17 over the six kilometre race. Following Brooking was TWU's Yee, who crossed the line in 20:30.

Yee has finished in the top two in all three of her races this year, having won both the University of Washington Sundodger Open and the University of Western Washington Classic.

Mirelle Martens (Grande Prairie, Alta.) finished seventh overall in 21:01, while Joanna Williams (Campbell River, B.C.) also nabbed a spot in the top 10, crossing the line in 21:44. Williams' performance also saw her finish third amongst junior athletes.

The Spartans will now undergo final preparations for the CIS championships Nov. 12 in Quebec City.
