LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western’s women’s volleyball team will embark upon its 2018-19 regular season by hosting Regina Oct. 19-20 at the Langley Events Centre. The Canada West regular season schedule was announced Wednesday.

Following the Spartans home-opening weekend, TWU will travel to Kelowna, B.C. to play an all-important early-season series against the Heat, who qualified for the national championship tournament last year as one of the top four teams in Canada West.

A home weekend Nov. 2-3 sees the Spartans host long-time rival Alberta, who were last year’s U SPORTS silver-medallists. The series will be a rematch of last year’s Canada West quarter-finals, which saw TWU fall to the Pandas in Game 3 of the best-of-three series. In last year’s regular season series, TWU knocked off the Pandas on both nights at the LEC.

The Spartans will take trips to Winnipeg and Saskatchewan before capping the first semester with a two-match series at home (Nov. 30 and Dec. 1) against the defending Canada West champion Calgary Dinos.

A pair of home games against local rival UBC, who earned a Canada West silver medal and a U SPORTS bronze medal last year, highlights the second semester.

Meanwhile, TWU is on the road for games against Brandon, Mount Royal and MacEwan, while hosting Thompson Rivers and, in the final weekend of the regular season, Manitoba.

TWU posted a 15-9 regular season record last season and qualified for the post-season with a fifth-place finish in the conference standings.
