LANGLEY, B.C. – The No. 9-ranked Spartan women’s volleyball team gears up after a bye weekend to play the No. 4 University of Calgary Dinos this weekend. Currently sitting fourth in the Canada West standings, TWU is two wins from claiming a Canada West playoff berth.

THE WEEKEND STORY
• The Spartans (13-5) are back in action after a weekend off, seeking to build on a win over Regina in their last outing on Jan. 20.
• TWU moved up one spot in the U SPORTS poll this week, climbing to No. 9
• The Dinos (15-3) sit second in the conference and approach the weekend with a three-game win streak, having already clinching a playoff spot last weekend against Thompson Rivers.
• Fourth-year libero Rachel Flink (Surrey, B.C.) is fifth in Canada West in digs per set with 3.67, while Katelyn Devaney (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) and Avery Heppell (Langley) come in first and second in the conference in blocks per set, with 1.63 and 1.49.
• Devaney is second all-time in Canada West in career blocks, with 496. She trails TWU alum Alicia Perrin (’15), who finished her career with 512 blocks. Devaney is also 10th in Canada in career aces, with 117. She is second on the Spartans all-time list, behind Sophie Carpentier (’17), who finished with 156.
• Brie O’Reilly (Langley) is fifth in the conference for assists per set with 8.70.
• TWU sits first in Canada West in blocks per set at 3.25 and fifth in the conference in hitting percentage at .190.
• The Spartans and Dinos last played each other on Oct. 14, 2017 at the West Coast Classic held at UBC, where the Spartans lost 3-1.
• In conference play, the Spartans and Dinos last played on Nov. 4-5, 2017, when they split their weekend series.
• A Dinos win would earn Calgary home court advantage for the quarterfinal round of the Canada West playoffs.
