SPARTAN ALUMS MONCKS, PERRIN TO REPRESENT CANADA BACK IN LANGLEY

LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western alums Kristen Moncks (Standard, Alta.) and Alicia Perrin (Creston, B.C.) will be back playing at the Langley Events Centre this weekend, as the former Spartans duo will represent Canada at the Senior Women’s Continental Championship, starting Thursday.

Moncks and Perrin, who both graduated from TWU in 2015, will be looking to help Canada qualify for the 2018 FIVB World Championship to be held in Japan next October. The top two teams at this weekend’s tournament, which runs Sept. 28-30, will qualify for the World Championship.

This will be the second time this summer that Moncks and Perrin have had the chance to don the Maple Leaf on home soil, having competed for Canada at the FIVB World Grand Prix in July in Richmond, B.C.

However, this weekend’s event will see the pair return to the gym where they represented the Spartans. The last time they played at the LEC was in the Canada West Quarter-Finals against Brandon Feb. 12-13, 2015, when the Spartans earned 3-0 and 3-1 wins to move on to the Canada West Final Four.

That quarter-final series victory marked the start a playoff run that saw the women’s volleyball team capture its first ever Canada West and U SPORTS championships.
