LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western’s men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel south of the border to compete in Washington State University’s WSU Open. It is the Spartan’s second competition of the season.

Saturday, Jan. 20 – WSU Indoor Track Facility (Pullman, Wash.) – 10 a.m. (PT)

THE WEEKEND STORY

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
• TWU’s Denzel Brown (Langley) will look to do much of the same this weekend as he did last weekend, as Brown finished first in triple jump, with a jump of 14.42m, and ninth in long jump, with a jump of 6.54m at the University of Washington Indoor Preview.
• Brown’s triple jump mark was just two centimetres from equaling TWU’s school record of 14.44m, which is held by Aaron Postma (Abbotsford, B.C.).
• TWU’s pole vaulting squad is set to pose a threat early in the season with Nathan Dunford (Bellingham, Wash.) and David Boyd (Victoria) both clearing 4.61m to open their indoor seasons.
• Last weekend, fourth-year Spartan Aidan Kits (Langley) posted a personal best in the 600m with a time of 1:22.00, clinching eighth overall.

WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
• Spartan pole vaulter Madison Evans (Calgary, Alta.) finished 10th this past weekend in the season-opener in Seattle with a mark of 3.76m. She posted an unofficial personal best of 3.90m at the Spartan Pole Vault Challenge.
• TWU’s Rachel Jerome (Ladysmith, B.C.) finished sixth in long jump last weekend with a jump of 5.53m.
• Mowa Adeleye (Calgary) had two top 10 finishes last week. She was 10th in triple jump with a mark of 11.30m and eighth in high jump with a mark of 1.60m.
