FIRST-YEAR JEROME LEADS SPARTANS IN SEASON-OPENING MEET

SEATTLE – First-year Rachel Jerome (Ladysmith, B.C.) had the Spartans best individual result of the day as she finished fourth in long jump with a mark of 5.54m at the University of Washington Indoor Preview Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.

In the first meet of the year for the TWU track and field teams, Jerome also posted a time of 8.01 in the 60m qualification.

Fellow first-year Mowa Adeleye (Calgary) had a strong opening meet, as she finished 14th overall with a time of 9.11.

Spartan pole vaulters Maddy Evans (Calgary) and Kirsten Dunford (Bellingham, Wash.) each cleared 3.53m to finish tied for ninth.

TWU is back in action next weekend when a small contingent will travel to Edmonton for the University of Alberta's Golden Bear Open Jan. 20-21.
