NO. 2 SPARTANS HOST NO. 9 ALBERTA FRIDAY, MOUNT ROYAL SATURDAY

LANGLEY, B.C. – The No. 2-ranked Trinity Western's women's soccer team (9-1-0) defends home pitch with a pair of games against No. 9 Alberta Friday and Mount Royal Saturday at Chase Office Field.

THE WEEKEND STORY
• The Spartans are coming off of a weekend sweep against local rivals University of the Fraser Valley, winning 3-1 and 3-2
• Mount Royal and Alberta are coming off a weekend playing each other, which resulted in a win for Alberta on the first night (2-0) and a scoreless draw on the second night.
• TWU comes into this weekend first in Canada West in goals with 32, Alberta is three goals behind with 29, while Mount Royal is ninth in the conference, with 15.
• The Spartans are also second in Canada West in shots with 181 shots, trailing Alberta who is in first with 202. MRU sits 10th with 103 shots.
• Three of the top five assist leaders in Canada West will be at Chase Office Field this weekend. Seina Kashima (Burnaby, B.C.) is leading with nine, Alberta's Brenna Mattiello (Edmonton) is in third with six, while Mount Royal's Erin Holt (Calgary) is close behind with five.
• Kashima is also tied for second in CW in goals with seven, as well as, leading in points with 16, and shots with 51.
• Kashima, who was the Canada West Women's First Star of the Week and the U SPORTS Female Athlete of the Week, is just two assists shy of the Canada West single-season record (11), which is held by Calgary alums Tessa Miller and Jordan Smith.
• Kashima already holds the all-time career lead for assists, with 36.
• Following Saturday's game, TWU will have a short ceremony honouring graduating seniors Amy Gartke (Edmonton), Danae Derksen, Rachel Sydor, Leanne Verhoeff (Calgary), Kathleen Chin (Calgary), Kiersten Sawchuk (Tsawwassen, B.C.) and Kashima.
