THE WEEKEND STORY
• The Spartans have earned five straight wins and haven’t allowed a goal in 466 minutes. The last time TWU conceded a goal was Sept. 16 against Calgary.
• Last weekend, the Spartans were back at home and combined to outscore UBCO (4-0) and TRU (5-0) by an impressive 9-0 count.
• TWU comes into this weekend’s home-and-home series having won nine straight regular season games against the Cascades. The last time UFV beat TWU in a regular season or playoff game was in the Canada West semifinals on Nov. 6, 2010, when UFV won 3-2 in a shootout.
• Seina Kashima (Burnaby, B.C.), who was this past week’s Canada West Women’s Third Star of the Week, and Rachel Hutchinson (Cloverdale, B.C.) are tied for the Spartans team-lead in points, with six each.
• Hutchinson leads the team in goals with four, while Kashima has a team-leading three assists.
• Kashima is on the verge of making TWU history, as she enters the weekend tied with Spartan alum Krista Gommeringer (Calgary) for the Spartans all-time career assist total, with 22. Kashima is also just one assist away from moving into a tie for second in Canada West in career assists.
• Prior to their draw with UBCO last Saturday, the Cascades had won four straight games and had earned clean sheets in all four of those victories.
