TORONTO – As part of the U SPORTS women’s basketball All-Canadian Awards Gala Wednesday night in Toronto, Ont., Trinity Western first year forward Nicole Fransson was named to the U SPORTS All-Rookie team.
The Edmonton native finished fourth on the Spartans in scoring, averaging 11.6 points per game and second in rebounding, averaging 7.2 rebounds per game, as TWU went 12-8 this season. Her 47.5 field goal shooting percentage was eighth best in Canada West this season.
Last week Fransson was named the 2018-2019 Canada West Rookie of the Year.
Fransson is the third Spartan to be named to the women’s basketball U SPORTS All-Rookie team. Previously Spartans to be named to the team were Katie Hall in 1999-2000 and Laura Craig in 2005-2006.
Concordia’s Myriam Leclerc was named U SPORTS Rookie of the Year, while Waterloo’s Kaitlyn Overeem and Jayda Veinot were also named to this year’s All-Rookie team.
