SPARTANS TO PLAY CHINA OLYMPIC TEAM AT RICHMOND OLYMPIC OVAL

LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western’s women’s basketball team will open its preseason schedule this Friday when the Spartans host the China Women’s Olympic Team at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The Spartans, who are coming off an historic season in which they played in the Canada West semifinals for the first time in program history, will take to the court against a Chinese team featuring the next wave of young Olympic hopefuls.

Admission is free for the Friday’s game, but seating is limited. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Friday’s contest with the China Women’s Olympic Team will be the first contest of a seven-game preseason schedule for TWU. At the end of September, the Spartans will travel to Ontario to play Western University Sept. 27 and the University of Windsor Sept. 28 and 29. TWU will then play two preseason games in Edmonton, taking on the University of Calgary Oct. 20 and the University of Alberta Oct. 21, before capping their preseason in Bellingham, Wash. against Western Washington Oct. 22.

TWU opens the Canada West regular season Sept. 26-27 at home against UBC Okanagan.
