SPARTANS FINISH REGULAR SEASON WITH HOME AND HOME AGAINST UFV

LANGLEY, B.C. – The Trinity Western Spartans women's basketball team will look to put an exclamation point on the 2018-19 regular season as they play a home and home series – one that features large playoff implications – with Fraser Valley Friday (in Abbotsford, B.C.) and Saturday (in Langley).

WEEKEND PREVIEW
Friday, Feb. 1 @ UFV – 6 p.m. (PT)
Saturday, Feb. 2 vs. UFV – 5 p.m. (PT)

THE WEEKEND STORY
• Trinity Western women's basketball team will close out the regular season as they travel to UFV Friday evening, before hosting the Cascades Saturday in Langley for senior-athlete appreciation night.
• TWU (10-8) will look to get back on track after dropping a pair of games last weekend on the road against sixth-place Lethbridge.
• UFV (10-8) is also looking to rebound after a pair of losses of their own at home against Calgary.
• Both teams currently sit in a four-way tie for seventh-place in the Canada West standings.
• While both teams have clinched a playoff berth, seeding, which is based on RPI, is entirely up in the air, with both teams still having the chance to host an opening-round playoff game.
• The RPI standings, which is based on strength of schedule, has TWU sitting 10th in Canada West (.503) while UFV is ninth (.516).
Jessie Brown (Langley) led the Spartans last weekend dropping 17-points Saturday night, putting the fifth-year guard 36th all-time in Canada West regular season scoring (1,303 pts)
• Brown enters the final regular season weekend of her career with 265 made 3-pointers, which has her second all-time in Canada West history. She is 14 3-pointers back of career-leader Ashley Hill who finished at 279.
• Brown's 2.725 career 3-pointers per game leads Canada West all-time.
• Fellow fifth-year Tessa Ratzlaff (Abbotsford, B.C.) is also in the top-40 (30th with 1,345 pts).
• Including the playoffs, Ratzlaff has a TWU all-time record 1,403 career points, while Brown has 1,333 career points.
• Ratzlaff is 15th in field goals in Canada West regular season history, with 549.
• Taylor Claggett (Mission, B.C.) leads the Cascades in scoring with 18.8 points/game, which is good for third in Canada West.
• Ratzlaff leads the Spartans with 16.6 points/game (11th)
• The last time these two teams matched up was January 2018, when TWU won both games (66-57 and 66-50).
