SPARTANS HOST DINOS IN CANADA WEST BRONZE MEDAL MATCH

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western's women's basketball team will host the Calgary Dinos in the single-elimination Canada West bronze medal match this Saturday at the Langley Events Centre. The No.10-ranked Spartans will battle against the Dinos in hopes of earning a berth to the U SPORTS championship.

THE WEEKEND STORY
• Last weekend TWU battled against Saskatchewan in a best-of-three series, losing the first night, winning the second before the Huskies stole the third game.
• Now the Spartans will compete in the most important game in program history, with the winner of the bronze medal match earning a berth into the U SPORTS championship tournament, hosted in Regina.
• TWU has never advanced to the U SPORTS championship and the program has never earned a conference medal.
• For the Spartans, third -year guard Sarah Buckingham (Surrey, B.C.) finished with a team-high 12 points and six rebounds in Game 3, while fifth-year forward Kayla Gordon (Prince George, B.C.) recorded nine points, six rebounds and three assists in the series-decider.
• Calgary lost to the Regina Cougars this past weekend in a best-of-three series where they dropped two games in a row.
• Brianna Ghali (Calgary) and Shannon Hatch (Arzo, Switzerland) both finished with 14 points for Calgary.
• The Dinos and Spartans split their regular season series at TWU, with the Spartans winning the opener before Calgary took the second game of the weekend.
• Calgary was led offensively by Ghali in the regular season, as she averaged 14.8 points per game.
• Ratzlaff led TWU in scoring in the regular season with 18.4 points per game.
• This will be the first time TWU and Calgary have ever played each other in the playoffs.
