This morning we headed to Tianjin University of Finance and Economics. We first received of a small tour around the University, and saw what their classrooms look like. The one we went in could hold around 300 people, and the floor and stairs were all granite. We then went and saw the gym where the 2017 Chinese games were held for women's basketball. This gym was amazing, and could hold up to 4,000 people. As we were walking to and from the gym, all the first-year students were marching around in camo suits. This was their military training that they all have to partake in as freshman before starting their classes.
Afterwards we headed to the opening ceremony for the 10th cohort for the Great Wall MBA program in Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai. We took photos with the new students entering into the program, and then headed to a large buffet lunch. We then walked to the gym to get ready for our game against the TUOFE Women's Basketball team. We ended up losing the game 52-50. It was another very competitive match for us. Each team played a bit of a different style of basketball, and it was a great opportunity for us to learn to defend teams differently and practice our new offences.
We had our last evening in Tianjin wandering the streets, and searching for some dinner. Some of us decided to stick with McDonalds. We enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub in our amazing hotel, and packed our bags for home!
Overall everyone had an amazing trip, and it was so cool to be able to experience a different and unique culture! It was really neat we were able to connect with other athletes and students who share the same love for basketball. This type of opportunity was an amazing learning experience for everyone, and we were so fortunate to be able to see and experience what we did!
