RATZLAFF NAMED CANADA WEST SECOND TEAM ALL-STAR

LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western’s Tessa Ratzlaff (Abbotsford, B.C.) was named a Canada West Second Team All-Star after she led the Spartans in both points and rebounds this season.

The third-year Ratzlaff earns her first conference honour following a season in which she averaged 16.7 points per game, which put her fourth most in Canada West, and 7.4 rebounds per game, which had her 11th in the conference. She also finished fifth in Canada West with a 50.4 shooting percentage

Over the course of the season, Ratzlaff surged past the 20-point plateau on six different occasions with a season-high 31-point night on the road against Winnipeg Jan. 6.

Ratzlaff is the first Spartan to be named a Canada West all-star since Holly Strom earned second team honours in 2012-13.

Both Jessie Brown (Langley) and Kayla Gordon (Prince George, B.C.) were named to the conference’s all-rookie teams in 2014-15 and 2013-14 respectively.

The all-star and all-rookie teams were selected by the conference’s 17 women’s basketball head coaches, who also picked the Canada West major award winners, who will be unveiled Wednesday, March 1.
