WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HOSTS BRANDON IN CANADA WEST PLAY-IN SERIES

LANGLEY, British Columbia – After an historically successful regular season, the Trinity Western women’s basketball team will be looking to make even more history this weekend, aiming for their first ever playoff series win as they host Brandon in a Canada West Play-In best-of-three series, starting Thursday at the Langley Events Centre.

SERIES PREVIEW
•    After finishing with a winning record for the first time in program history, the Spartans are hosting a playoff series for the first time ever.
•    Whoever wins this series will travel to play No. 2-ranked Regina in the Canada West Quarter-Finals.
•    TWU third-year guard Jessie Brown (Langley) comes into the series after posting the best 3-point shooting campaign in Spartans history, hitting a single-season school record 61 treys. It was the ninth best single-season mark in Canada West history. Brown is now 10th all-time in the conference with 171 career 3-pointers.
•    Last year’s playoff win over Victoria marked TWU’s first post-season win in program history. The Spartans lost the first game against the Vikes, before winning Game 2 84-79. They lost Game 3 62-44.
•    Brown had 34 points and was six for 10 from 3-point range in last year’s playoff win.
•    The last time TWU and Brandon met was in late-January of 2016. The teams split their regular season series, with TWU winning 87-81 before Brandon won 74-69. They did not play during the regular season this year.
•    Brandon and TWU have never met in the post-season.
