SEATTLE – Trinity Western's Nick Colyn (Langley, B.C.) finished second overall to lead the Spartans men's cross country team at the University of Washington's Sundodger Open Saturday at Lincoln Park.
The third-year Colyn finished the eight kilometre route in 24:33.04 to post his best ever result at the annual Sundodger Open. Last year Colyn finished 23rd overall in 25:03.90.
Fourth-year Caleb de Jong (Winnipeg) was only two places behind Colyn, finishing fourth in 24:37.31, while Levi Neufeld (Winnipeg) was seventh in 24:50.71.
James Lam (Langley) finished 20th in 25:32.59 and Tyler DeJong (Langley) was 24th in 25:40.65 to round out a Spartans leading quintet that earned TWU the team title for the second year in a row. The Spartans finished with 46 points, edging second place Simon Fraser, who had 70 points.
TWU was running without injured star fifth-year Declan White (South Surrey, B.C.).
Spartan alum Joel De Schiffart (Nanaimo, B.C.), who was racing under the Bomba Squad banner, finished eighth in 24:56.15.

The Spartans will now prepare for the UVIC Invitational Oct. 14 at Beacon Hill Park in Victoria.
