SPARTANS WIN BLUE TEAM CUP TO CAP PERFECT PRESEASON

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western wrapped up its preseason schedule by winning the Blue Team Cup, earning a 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-12) win over Mount Royal in the tournament finale Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.

The Spartans didn't drop a set in all three matches of the exhibition tournament as they also beat UBC and UBC Okanagan to take the title.

The win sees TWU finish with a 13-0 record in preseason.

QUOTABLE
Head Coach Ben Josephson
"The first set resembled the first set against UBC on Thursday. Eric Loeppky (Steinbach, Man.) broke it wide open in the set and we were really clean and didn't make an attacking error in the set. After that, the sets were much more competitive. Our offence was really clean and our passing was really good. Adam (Schriemer, Winnipeg) ran a really clean and crisp offence. Jacob Kern (Edmonton) was a beast and I thought we did everything we needed to do.

"We're as ready as we can be coming out of the exhibition window. We're super excited to start to prepare for Saskatchewan to open the regular season."
