RICHMOND, B.C. - First-year Kenny Blackman Jr., alongside pentathlete Jordyn Piercy, led the charge at the Harry Jerome Indoor Games on Saturday. Held at the Richmond Olympic Oval, Blackman Jr. finished the 60m race in first place with a season's best time of 6.92, while teammates Praise Olatoke (Glasgow, Scotland) and Ben Tjernagel (New Westminster, B.C.) finished third and fourth respectively.
Piercy competed four times over the day: 60m hurdle heats, hurdle finals, shot put and high jump, capturing two personal bests over the day in her field events with a throw of 8.84m and a jump of 1.50m.
Heptathletes Christ Weiss (West Vancouver, B.C.) and Dominic Luccock (Delta, B.C.) competed in hurdles, shot put and high jump, with Weiss finishing third in the hurdles with a time of 9.25 and Luccock throwing 10.28m in shot put.
TWU will send athletes to both Kamloops and Seattle next weekend, competing in the Gary Reed Indoor Invitational as well as the Dempsey Indoor at the University of Washington.
