SEATTLE – Trinity Western's Tyler de Jong (Langley) posted a time of 1:54.95 in the 800m to finish 29th overall and lead the Spartans at the University of Washington's Husky Classic Saturday, while pole vaulter David Boyd (Victoria) cleared 4.87m to finish eighth.
On the women's side, TWU's Regan Yee (South Hazelton, B.C.) continued to build on what has already been a record-setting season, as the fifth-year Spartan won the mile at the University of Washington's Husky Classic with a time of 4:33.43, which puts her in the Top 20 in the world this season.
In a field almost entirely made up of professionals and NCAA Div. I talent, Yee topped them all with a time that will put her second in the U SPORTS 1500m rankings. She will trail only the University of Toronto's Lucia Stafford, who clocked a time of 4:31.66 in the mile two weeks ago.
Yee's result comes on the heels of her posting a TWU record time of 8:58.29 in the 3000m earlier this year at the UW Invitational.
In the pole vault pit, TWU's Madison Evans (Calgary) put in another strong performance this year, as she finished fifth overall after clearing 3.84m. Evans has a personal best of 3.90m, which she cleared earlier this season.
The Spartans are back on the track Sunday at the Dempsey Indoor for the UW Open in Seattle.
