PULLMAN, Wash. – Trinity Western's Denzel Brown (Coquitlam, B.C.) finished second in triple jump with a mark of 14.30m as he was the lone Spartans men's athlete competing Friday at the Washington State Open.
Brown was just off his indoor personal best of 14.42m, which he jumped last weekend at the UW Preview.
On the women's side, Trinity Western fourth-year pole vaulter Madison Evans (Calgary) earned the U SPORTS qualifying standard with a personal best clearance of 3.90m to finish third at the Washington State Open.
Evans is the first Spartan to earn automatic qualification for the national championships. She bettered her season-opening mark of 3.76m, which she cleared at last weekend's University of Washington Preview. Evans had previously cleared 3.90m at an unofficial Spartan meet at TWU's David E.
