BOYD FINISHES SECOND IN HEPTATHLON AT GOLDEN BEAR OPEN

EDMONTON – Trinity Western's David Boyd (Victoria) had a strong second day in the heptathlon to finish second overall at the Golden Bear Open at the University of Alberta's Universiade Pavillion.

Boyd finished first in both pole vault (4.00m) and the 1000m (3:03.21) and was second in the 60m hurdles (8.91) to cap his first ever university-level heptathlon.

The fourth-year Spartan finished with 4,109 points.

Fellow Spartan Aidan Kits (Langley, B.C.) finished 12th in the 600m in 1:24.15 and 16th overall in the 300m with a time of 37.14.

On the women's side, Jamie Wiens cleared 1.45m in high jump to finish ninth overall.

TWU is back on the track next weekend when the Spartans will compete in the University of Washington Invitational Jan. 27-28 in Seattle.
