THE WEEKEND STORY
• The Spartans are coming off an emotionally-charged victory over UBC Okanagan in which Elie Gindo (Langley) scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute.
• Gindo went on to be named the Canada West Men's First Star of the Week.
• A TWU player has been named amongst the Canada West Men's Three Stars of the Week in each of the first three weeks of the season.
o Leighton Johnson (Calgary) was the First Star after the opening weekend of the season and Sebastian Colyn (Langley) was the Third Star following the second weekend.
• The Spartans victory last Saturday came on the heels of three consecutive ties.
• The last time TWU played Lethbridge was more than five years ago, on Sept. 7, 2012, when the Spartans earned a 2-0 victory at home.
o The teams were scheduled to meet in 2013, but the game, which was the final match of the year for both teams and was inconsequential in the standings, was cancelled due to inclement weather.
• TWU's Johnson continues to lead Canada West in goals, with four. He is tied with Alberta's Ajeej Sarkaria atop the goal-scoring leaderboard.
• Spartans first-year goalkeeper Colyn is fourth in the conference with 19 saves.
• Lethbridge goalie Nolan French leads Canada West with 29 saves.
• Saskatchewan's Gabriel Buatois is tied for the conference-lead in assists with four.
