FRANSEN SCORES TWICE TO LEAD SPARTANS TO WIN OVER SEATTLE PACIFIC

SEATTLE – Trinity Western's Cody Fransen (Lynden, Wash.) scored both goals for the Spartans as the men's soccer team capped its preseason with a 2-0 win over Seattle Pacific (NCAA Div. II) Saturday.

Fransen opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, with Matthew Roxburgh (Surrey, B.C.) assisting on the play, before doubling TWU's lead early in the second half.

TWU's three goalkeepers – Sebastian Colyn (Langley, B.C.), Jordan Kasian (Calgary) and James Hielema (Calgary) – each played 30 minutes to contribute to the clean sheet.

"We took advantage of a few of their mistakes today, which is good to see," said Spartans coach Mike Shearon. "We came out and matched a lot of their intensity. It was a good end to the preseason. It's nice to get a shutout. We're looking forward to getting the season started and see how we do against Canada West opposition."

TWU opens its regular season Aug. 25-26 when the Spartans will play on the road against Victoria and UBC. Both games can be seen live on www.canadawest.tv.
