THE WEEKEND STORY
•    The weekend series is a mismatch on paper, as the three-win Spartans take on one of the best teams in the country in a UBC side that has won nine straight games.
•    TWU is coming off a win against Mount Royal that saw the Spartans snap a 14-game losing streak.
•    In recent games the Spartans have been led by Patrick Vandervelden. Last Saturday, he tallied his fourth double double of the season, putting up 17 points and 10 rebounds. He is averaging 13.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
•    The T-Birds have won their last four games by an average of 48.8 points.
•    Over that span, UBC averaged 111.5 points per game, while giving up just 62.7.
•    UBC leads Canada West in both points per game (92.9) and points allowed per game (70.1).
•    The only team to beat the T-Birds this year was Saskatchewan. The Huskies won 95-78.
•    UBC is led offensively by Conor Morgan, who is averaging 24.3 points per game and this past week was named the U SPORTS Male Athlete of the Week. Morgan is third in the conference in shooting percentage at 56.9 per cent.
•    The T-Birds Taylor Browne is fourth in Canada West in 3-point shooting percentage, at 46.5 per cent.
•    TWU has lost its last four meetings with UBC. The last time TWU beat the T-Birds was Nov. 9, 2013 when they won 73-66 on the road.
•    The Spartans have never beat UBC at the Langley Events Centre. The last time TWU beat the T-Birds on home court was Jan. 8, 2009, when they stunned a No. 2-ranked UBC team 87-78 at the David E. Enarson Gym.
