U SPORTS TOP 10 | TWU WVB NO. 1, MVB NO. 3

LANGLEY, British Columbia – For the second poll in a row, the Trinity Western women’s volleyball team is ranked No. 1 in the U SPORTS Top 10, while the Spartans men’s volleyball team comes in at No. 3.

Coming off a weekend sweep of Brandon, the TWU women’s volleyball team improved to 14-0 on the season and, in doing so, set the program record for consecutive wins to start a season. The Spartans perfect record bettered the previous mark of 13 straight wins, which was set in 2015-16. The team will have a bye this weekend before hosting Thompson Rivers Jan. 18-19 at the Langley Events Centre.

On the men’s side, the Spartans dropped to No. 3 in the latest rankings after losing back-to-back road games to now No. 1 Brandon. TWU had sat atop the rankings in each of the last three U SPORTS Top 10s. Like the women’s team, the Spartans men’s side has this week off before preparing to take on No. 9 TRU at home the following weekend.

The women’s volleyball rankings are based on coaches’ votes. The men’s volleyball rankings are based on a statistical calculation (VRS). The basketball rankings are based on coaches’ votes. The track and field rankings are based on individual and relay results at www.trackie.com.
